Team 2 Family Day 2013

This past Sunday, Team II from the Waco campus hosted their Family Day. Staff, youth and 74 family members participated in Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) training on the concepts of group rules.  Youth from each home unit gave presentations on rules such as, Stick Together, No Hurts and Have Fun.  

Chuck Russell, Waco campus administrator, stated “We wanted to provide an easy to remember, easy to use tool that parents could take with them and apply immediately to their families. We ended the day with a pizza meal and fellowship. We were very excited at the number of families that participated.”

Waxahachie Chess Team competes in State Tournament

Three students from the Waxahachie campus finished in the top 25 at the State Chess tournament in Austin on Saturday, February 9. The tournament was held in the State Capitol building with 12 high school teams and 46 individuals participating.

Two teams represented the Waxahachie campus with the B team finishing seventh and the A team finishing twelfth. This was the school’s first year to have a chess team.

“We are very proud of these two young teams who made it to state their first year,” said Jeff Creel, campus administrator for Waxahachie. 

Congratulations to these students on this wonderful achievement!

McLennan County Junior Stock Show 2013

Several MCH students competed in the McLennan County Stock Show on Feb. 5-8 at the Extraco Events Center. Through MCH’s FFA program, these students learned how to prepare animals for judging and properly show them during the competition.  Here are the results:

Team 1 Family Day

Team 1 from the Waco campus hosted a Family Day for our youth and their families at the Johnson Student Center community room. The theme was Valentine's Day. 

Youth and their families had an opportunity to share homemade cookies and cupcakes, take fun portraits together and visit. Family members later participated in a nurturing group that teaches Trust-Based Relational Intervention techniques.
