Foster Family Retreat

Methodist Children’s Home Community Services hosted its 19th Foster Family Retreat this past weekend.

The retreat offered staff the opportunity to provide support and training to foster families, and it is a way of showing gratitude for the many sacrifices foster families make for children and their families throughout the year.

Families enjoyed a cookout, swimming, and ice cream on Friday night. Saturday, Austin Avenue United Methodist Church hosted the training by guest speaker, Susan Fletcher, Ph.D. Susan is a practicing psychologist, author and sought after speaker.

A luncheon followed the training and foster families were recognized for their years of service and exemplifying the MCH Core Values.

Here are some fun photos from the event.

Family Fun Day - Waxahachie

Our Waxahachie campus celebrated its Family Fun Day on July 1st. Hosting a day of activities and fellowship, staff members were excited to see a large crowd of 65 youth and family. Guests were treated to hamburgers and hotdogs with all the fixings, and ice cream and cake. After the feast, youth and their families had the opportunity to play games and win prizes. Family Fun Day was a success and everyone is looking forward to another fun-filled day this fall.

Here are some photos from this summer's event.

MCH Appreciates its Student Workers

Methodist Children’s Home gives students opportunities to work with different departments on the Waco campus. This enables all staff to form relationships with our youth and our youth to learn new skills while earning money.

Taylor is junior from the Waco campus who works in our accounting department. She works 10 to 15 hours per week during the summer. Taylor keeps the files in order, sorts and stamps the mail, manages the break room and is always willing to help with whatever needs to be done.

“I really enjoy helping out and I enjoy being with the accounting staff," Taylor said.

Maggi, MCH accounting administrator, described Taylor as a delight to have in the office.

"She always has a big smile and a willing spirit while working," Maggi said.

Maggi and Taylor are pictured below working hard!

Thank you to Taylor and all of our student workers throughout campus who bring joy and help to our daily lives.
