MCH Staff Makes Birthdays Special

Birthday parties are always a special time for children. And with all of the children we serve, it seems that MCH staff and foster parents are always busy planning for the next exciting birthday! Here are some pictures of a recent birthday party put on by staff from our Corpus Christi outreach office.

It looks like she thoroughly enjoyed her cake! Happy first birthday, Miss Chloe!

MCH Charter School Prom 2010

Seniors and juniors from the MCH Charter School were swept away in a "Sea of Memories" this past Saturday at our Junior/Senior prom. Here are some photos from the event.

It was obvious to all who attended that many youth, teachers and staff worked hard to plan this event. Way to go! Thanks also goes to Mr. Pendley from Pendley Party Productions for providing the prom decor.

Bobby Gilliam recieves lifetime recognition

Bobby Gilliam, who retired as president of Methodist Children's Home March 31, recently was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his life work in child care. The award was a part of the opening sessions at the Coalition for Residential Education (CORE) national conference.

Following is a picture of Gilliam receiving the award (second from left). Gilliam was joined by the current Executive Director Scott Hart (left) from Mooseheart, where Gilliam served as executive director for three years. Also pictured left to right are Linda Gilliam, CORE Founder and Executive Director Heidi Goldsmith, and Methodist Children's Home Vice President for Residential Services Moe Dozier.

Our congratulations to Gilliam and his family on this prestigious award. Gilliam's contributions to residential education at Methodist Children's Home, and agencies across the nation, will not soon be forgotten.

Homecoming 2010 comes to the Waco campus!

For years the Easter holiday has been a time when hundreds of alumni came back to visit the Home with their families. This Homecoming saw more than 400 individuals (both alumni and their families) return for the celebration. It was a special blessing to see so many young alumni from the 80s and 90s this year! Thank you to our dedicated Alumni Association for all their hard work. Here are some photos from the weekend.
